WHO IS ANDRES BONIFACIO?
FACT:

He was a hard worker with various stable jobs. Most of us remember Bonifacio, as discussed in our history classes, as the eldest son who had to become the head of the family to provide for his younger siblings when their parents passed away. It was said that he and his siblings sold walking canes and paper fans to supply their needs. But Bonifacio was also employed in several clerical jobs. He was a bodegero (warehouse keeper), a messenger clerk and a poster maker (due to his very nice penmanship), to name a few.

Because of his hard work, he managed to get promoted and earn several promotions in the international firms he was employed in, pushing him and his siblings to lower middle class status. According to columnist Michael “Xiao” Chua, the hero’s monthly salary would be equivalent to P18,000 today. If Bonifacio were alive in the modern times, he’d probably be a yuppie.
