Lately, every consultation, hospital rounds, and medrep interaction began with a simple, “Kumusta mo? Kumusta sa inyuha?” But behind that question were stories of the recent typhoon, of loss, of resilience, and of quiet struggles carried with grace.

Our conversations have gone beyond medical concerns and they’ve become about life itself, about hope, healing, and finding strength in shared humanity.

Cebu may be going through dark and difficult days, but I hope that in our own small way, our little conversations, we’re helping lift even a bit of that weight from your heart.

Praying for healing for all those suffering today. 🙏🏻

📌 Attention parents and patients,

With the recent floods in Cebu, there’s an increased risk of leptospirosis, a bacterial infection that can come after heavy rain and flood waters.

As your pediatrician, here are key things to know what you can do to keep your children safe.

👶 For children:
✅Make sure they wear shoes (preferably waterproof) when walking in muddy/standing water.
❌Keep them from playing in floodwater or puddles.
❌Teach them not to put hands in mouth after touching muddy water, and to wash hands/feet when they come indoors.
✅In the home, ensure their sleeping/resting area is free from rodents, and that water used for drinking is safe.
‼️Be alert for symptoms
-Because symptoms may appear 2-30 days after exposure, monitor children for fever, aches, vomiting, red eyes etc.

If you suspect infection or the child becomes ill, seek medical care immediately.
