Insomnia is a common sleep disorder. With insomnia, you may have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or getting good quality sleep. Why is going to sleep so complicated?!

You might spend your whole day feeling tired and exhausted, looking forward to the moment your head hits the pillow. But almost always, without fail, the moment you lie down to go to sleep, you`re all of a sudden wide awake and your brain is restless and spinning, making it impossible for you to go to sleep. And as you toss and turn, stressing as the clock gets closer and closer to that dreadful time when your alarm will go off and you still can`t fall sleep, these are all the things you do.

Like when you spilled your drink all over you at lunch at the exact moment your crush walked by. Whyyyyy?

And then wonder who thought this stupid trick works because it definitely doesn`t.

𝟲. 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁.
Your logic is, it`ll take your mind off trying to sleep and help you fall asleep naturally, but then after 20 minutes of scrolling through Twitter, you start to wonder if the Internet is the solution or the problem when it comes to your sleep deprivation.

𝟳. 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.
You know the rational thing to do would be to accept that it`s the pipes rattling and go to sleep, but your brain won`t accept rational thought and would rather imagine it`s Freddy Krueger or Chuckie come to murder you in your sleep.

𝟴. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗱.
How, how, hooooow do penguins have knees?! How?!

𝟵. 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹. 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀.
Because they`re sleeping.

𝟭𝟬. 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂`𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄.
It happens multiple times a year, from taking your driver`s license test to your first day of school to the homecoming dance... Whatever very important day it is, you`re definitely going to look like a zombie for it since you didn`t get any sleep the night before.
