NEWS ALERT: Manila City on full alert as nears

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso has ordered all departments to heighten preparations as Typhoon Uwan approaches the country.

Upon the directives of the Mayor, Manila Health Department (MHD) chief and City Health Officer Dr. Grace Padilla announced that all seven Manila city government district hospitals have been placed under Code White status starting midnight of November 9, Sunday, to ensure readiness for medical emergencies.

Likewise, Padilla said around 25,000 capsules of doxycycline remain available and will be distributed to health centers and offices to prevent potential flood-related infections.

Doxycycline capsules are antibiotics used to prevent or treat infections such as leptospirosis, which can spread through floodwaters after heavy rains and typhoons.

In compliance with the Mayor's directives, Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) chief and City Social Welfare Officer Jay Dela Fuente reported that 28 evacuation centers across all districts have been readied for affected families.

Relief goods and hot meals have already been prepositioned by the Manila Department of Social Welfare in coordination with barangay units.

State weather bureau PAGASA said Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) has rapidly intensified with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h as it moves closer to Catanduanes, placing Metro Manila under Signal No. 3.

Stay safe, mga batang Ayalans!

: Upon the recommendation of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MCDRRMC), I am ordering the suspension of all face-to-face classes in all levels, both public and private schools in the City of Manila, on Monday, 10 November 2025.

This is due to the expected impact of Typhoon , which may bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and possible flooding to our city.

All schools are directed to shift to Alternative Delivery Modes of Learning to ensure the continuity of education while keeping students and personnel safe.

Everyone is advised to stay alert, monitor official weather updates, and take all necessary precautions.
