When God Fathers the Fatherless and Strengthens the Mother🤰
A Father’s Day Reflection
Today, as I reflect on Father’s Day, I am reminded of a truth that has carried me through every season of my life: God truly is a Father to the fatherless.
Growing up, I never had the opportunity to meet my dad. I only knew him through photographs and the stories others shared. I often wondered what it would have been like to hear his voice, receive his advice, or simply have him present in my life. There was no father figure or stepfather to fill that space, and at times the absence felt profound.
Yet even in the emptiness, God was there.
He guided me when I needed direction, comforted me when I felt alone, and faithfully carried me through seasons I never thought I could endure. Looking back, I can see His hand in places where I once saw only lack. He became the Father I could always depend on—the One who never left, never forgot, and never stopped loving me.
Today, I find myself in another season of faith. As a mother raising my son, I often feel the weight of wearing two hats. While we co-parent with his father, much of the daily responsibility rests with me. There are days when I must be both strong and gentle, both protector and nurturer, both encourager and guide.
Some days are exhausting. Some days I question whether I am enough.
But God continues to remind me that I was never meant to do this alone.
The same Heavenly Father who cared for me as a fatherless child is the same Father who strengthens me as a mother. He fills the gaps where I fall short, provides wisdom when I don’t know what to do, and gives me grace for each new day.
My prayer is that my son will always know that while people may fail and circumstances may change, he has a Heavenly Father whose love is constant and whose presence never leaves.
This Father’s Day, I celebrate the fathers who faithfully love and lead their children. But I also give thanks for the God who steps into every empty place, heals every wound, and proves that His love is more than enough.
“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.” — Psalm 68:5 🙌
What was missing, God became. And what feels heavy, God continues to carry. 💙🙏
