No to Bullying and Gender-based Violence: Inclusive Schools Now!

Bahaghari strongly condemns all forms of violence directed to every student in schools and universities.

Last July 6, 2026 (Monday) a video circulated online, wherein a student threw a tumbler, punched, and kicked a fellow student—part of the LGBTQ+ community. It can also be noticed in the video that an adult, a homeroom teacher, is present in the room yet wasn’t able to immediately stop the commotion.

This incident is only one of the numerous cases of bullying, harassment, and gender-based violence recorded in schools, more of which are in communities.

Policies against bullying and gender-based violence must be effectively implemented, not merely exist on paper and documents, but it should also reflect on how the staff or faculty are well-equipped on how to handle such cases.

And one of the responsibility of the state is to be able to provide education program for a safe and an inclusive school for every student to thrive and cultivate a growth mindset, without this, normalization and culture of violence will continue to persist.

Bahaghari calls the attention of the Calamba Bayside Integrated School for its immediate action and call for proper investigation, hearing, and counselling for both of the students, the perpetrator and the victim.
