Sore throat? Open your mouth and say "AAHHhhhh"

With viral infections, you will mostly see just redness of your throat and tonsils. You might have a cough, but if you cough up mucus, it will be clear.
Stuffy nose? Blow your nose and look at the tissue- the mucus should be clear if its a viral infection.
Fevers shouldn't be very high either, if any.

Viruses will not get better by taking antibiotics! To feel better, stay hydrated and treat the symptoms- pain medication for body aches, nasal decongestants for stuffy nose, cough drops and honey to soothe sore throat.

Bacterial infections are different:
Tonsils may have white/mucus patches on them, Tongue will might have some whitish/gray on it too. Uvula may also be swollen.
Coughing brings up greenish yellow phlegm, and your tissue will have greenish/yellow mucus after blowing your nose. Fevers will also be higher, about 102 F and above.
