Hello everyone! I’m Kim or Pixelmallows. I’m a graphic artist and illustrator based in Manila.
I will share my story about my journey anyway.
I dunno what my age started my career but I think when I was a kid, since I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, I discovered my talent which is drawing. I’m always making doodles and scribbles to eat my boredom away.
January 2007, my Special Education teacher told me to join the Poster Making Competition in line for the Autism Consciousness Week celebration. After I won first place, and the rest is history.
To date, I joined many competitions and I scored achievements, mostly 1st, sometimes second or any runner-ups, despite the winnings, well this is what I called experience.
January 2012, I discovered Photoshop and I tried the software. I know it is very difficult start but I played it anyway. When I was in Grade 5, I stopped doing art since I got diagnosed with Severe Depression due to bullying. I almost ended up my life by drowning inside the drum filled with water, hanging my self or jumping from the topmost building--but I think this is a failed attempt.
July 2013 is my low-key comeback in illustration since I joined the poster making competition for the upcoming National Children’s Moth celebration that time with the theme: “Kahirapan Wakasan, Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban” (End Poverty, Fight for the Rights of the Child) and I won as a Grand Champion with the piece I created.
January 2016, my teacher in Tech-Voc (ICT) told me to join the Technolympics 2016 and as a result, I won first in the Divisionals and third in the Regional. I think this is a really good start in designing. November of the same year started freelancing and at least I got money from them.
I dunno how to finish it now but yeah.
