Bitterness does not begin on the tongue. It begins in the unseen chambers of the heart. Words are only the echo. They are the overflow of wounds left untreated, disappointments left ungrieved, offenses rehearsed in the quiet hours of the night. You can hear it in sarcasm that cuts too deep. In criticism that never rests. In a tone that always sounds like it’s fighting something.

Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” He was not merely diagnosing behavior...He was revealing the condition of the soul. When bitterness has taken root, it eventually finds a voice. And that voice, though it may sound strong, often carries the tremble of pain.

A bitter heart is rarely a proud one at its core. It is usually a wounded one.

Over time, disappointment hardens into defense. Defense hardens into distance. Distance hardens into bitterness. And suddenly, the mouth becomes a weapon instead of a wellspring.

But here is the tender mercy of God: if words reveal the heart, then they also invite healing. When you notice sharpness in your speech, when you hear constant negativity flowing out of you, do not rush to silence your mouth, bring your heart to Jesus.

He does not shame the bitter. He heals them.

The cross was not only for obvious sins; it was also for hidden resentments. Christ did not carry nails so we could keep carrying grudges. He did not rise again so we could stay imprisoned by old offenses.

Bitterness feels powerful, but it is actually bo***ge. It keeps you tied to the very thing that hurt you. Every harsh word is a reminder that the wound is still ruling you. But forgiveness...true forgiveness, is freedom. Not because what happened didn’t matter, but because your heart matters more.

Imagine a heart so filled with God’s mercy that gentleness spills out instead of anger. Imagine words that build instead of break. Imagine a mouth that speaks life because the heart has been bathed in grace.

Ask yourself gently today: What has been overflowing from me lately? Criticism? Complaints? Coldness? Or kindness? Gratitude? Compassion? Your mouth is telling on your heart.

And the good news is this: God is not afraid of what He finds there. Bring Him the resentment. Bring Him the jealousy. Bring Him the offense you keep replaying. Let Him touch the root, not just trim the fruit.

Because when the heart is healed, the words will follow. Fill your heart with Christ, and your mouth will begin to sound like Him ❤️‍🔥

When your spirit is empty, emotions take the wheel.
Decisions get driven by feelings, not faith.
Reactions replace wisdom.
Impulse replaces prayer.

There are days when you feel overwhelmed, tired, and easily hurt.
It’s not because you’re weak or bad.
It’s because your soul has been running on empty, and you forgot to feed it.

An unfed spirit becomes vulnerable.
We overthink.
We assume.
We react before we listen.

When prayer becomes optional,
discernment slowly fades.
When the Word becomes distant,
our emotions start defining what we believe is true.

Emotions are real, but they are not reliable leaders.
They rise with pressure.
They fall with disappointment.

That is why God calls us to daily feeding.
Not just Sunday worship.
Not just inspirational posts.
But quiet moments with Him that realign the heart.

When the spirit is not fed,
the emotions end up leading the way.
And emotions will always take you somewhere,
just not always where God wants you to go.

Feed your spirit.
Return to prayer.
Return to the Word.
Return to His presence.

Because when the spirit is full,
the heart becomes steady,
the mind becomes clear,
and emotions fall back into their rightful place.

📖 Matthew 4:4
“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

📖 Galatians 5:16
“Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
