Mu Relief

From October 1-2, 2025, Mu Relief carried out relief operations for families affected by Super Typhoon Nando, which brought destructive winds and torrential rains across North and South Luzon. The typhoon severely impacted the provinces of Cagayan and Laguna, leaving hundreds of families displaced and struggling with power outages, flooding, and the loss of homes and livelihoods.

In response, Mu Relief extended immediate support to affected communities through the invaluable assistance of our partners: Cagayan Youth Advocates for families in Calayan, Cagayan; Youth Service Philippines for the communities in Barangay San Gabriel, Ugac Norte, Carig Norte, and Cataggaman Nuevo in Tuguegarao City; Akbayanihan Foundation for affected areas in Laguna; and the UP Diliman Department of Linguistics for the community in Babuyan Claro, Babuyan Islands.

Through this coordinated effort, 400 hygiene kits and 400 food packs were distributed, ensuring that families received essential supplies to sustain themselves during this difficult time. In Babuyan Claro, Project H2O buckets were provided to help address the community’s water challenges, offering safer access to drinking water and helping reduce reported gastrointestinal illnesses. These efforts went beyond material aid, they were a tangible expression of compassion and solidarity, supporting families as they work to restore stability and hope in their communities.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners and donors, including the Mu Sigma Phi Foundation and MSPF Batch 1983, whose generosity made this mission possible. Our heartfelt thanks also go to the volunteers, whose selfless dedication ensured that relief goods were carefully repacked and delivered on time. We would also like to sincerely thank the UP Manila Museum of a History of Ideas for graciously providing the venue for repacking, their generosity was instrumental in making this relief operation both successful and efficient.

Together, we continue to stand with these communities, bringing comfort, healing, and hope in the aftermath of the storm. Over the past week, Severe Tropical Storm Tino has brought extreme rainfall throughout Visayas. It has resulted in severe flooding in Leyte and flashfloods in Cebu that have devastated the lives of various individuals, leaving them with damaged homes, lost livelihoods, and loss of access to clean water. Various areas across Cebu and Leyte remain displaced due to the aftermath that the typhoon has brought, leaving them in dire need of assistance.
