As PAGASA officially declares the onset of the rainy season, the Coast Guard Medical Service reminds everyone to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect their health and safety during periods of heavy rainfall and possible flooding.

The rainy season may increase the risk of vector-borne diseases, water-borne illnesses, respiratory infections, skin infections, and accidents caused by slippery roads and flooded areas. To stay protected, keep your surroundings clean, drink safe and clean water, maintain proper hygiene, and seek medical attention if symptoms of illness develop.

Remember to stay updated with weather advisories, avoid crossing flooded areas, and ensure that your homes and workplaces are prepared for adverse weather conditions.

Preparedness is the cornerstone of an effective response.

The Coast Guard Medical Service (CGMED) proudly showcased its unwavering commitment to operational excellence as its personnel successfully participated in the KAMANDAG 26 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Comprehensive Training, a high-level capability enhancement program designed to strengthen responders' preparedness against complex and evolving CBRN threats.

Leading the CGMED delegation was LT KRISTOFFER NEIL S JAMILARIN O-3274 MC PCG, together with eight ( 8 ) dedicated CGMED personnel, who underwent intensive lectures and hands-on practical exercises covering CBRN hazard assessment, the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), casualty extraction and management, decontamination operations, and coordinated emergency response in high-risk environments.

The training was conducted by expert instructors from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) alongside distinguished subject matter experts, bringing world-class knowledge and operational experience to the participants. It also served as a platform for strengthening interoperability among key national security and public safety agencies, with representatives from the Philippine Marine Corps, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Philippine National Police (PNP), and other partner agencies working together toward a common mission of safeguarding lives during CBRN emergencies.

More than a training activity, KAMANDAG 26 reflects the enduring value of international cooperation, interagency collaboration, and continuous professional development. By investing in advanced CBRN preparedness, CGMED reinforces the Philippine Coast Guard's commitment to maintaining a highly skilled, resilient, and mission-ready medical workforce capable of responding swiftly and effectively to any challenge.
