After I was widowed, I dreamed of my son, Ryan, starting a family. For months, he talked about Lydia, the girl he'd fallen for in France. I couldn't wait to meet her.

Last week, I prepared a lovely dinner. But when they arrived, I nearly fainted—Lydia was a woman MY AGE wearing a red dress and heels. Still, I was willing to accept it if they were happy. But then they said this:

Ryan: "Mom, relax. Lydia's moving in to take charge of everything."
Lydia: "You have a great basement. It'll be perfect for you now—or maybe you can stay with your single daughter. I'll need a separate office and of course, we'll take the master bedroom."

I was floored by her arrogance. I haven't died yet!!! But instead of arguing, I handed over the house without a fight. A month later, Lydia called me, furious:

I CAME HOME WITH MY NEWBORN TWINS TO FIND THE LOCKS CHANGED AND A NOTE.

I had just been discharged from the hospital after giving birth to my twin girls, Ella and Sophie. My husband, Derek, was supposed to pick us up, But at the last minute, he called.

"Mom's really unwell. I need to take her to the hospital. I can't pick you up,” he said, sounding rushed.

Disappointed but trying to stay calm, I called a taxi.

When I got home, I froze. My suitcases and bags were dumped on the doorstep. I approached the door, calling, "Derek?" but there was no answer.

I tried my key—it didn't work. The locks had been changed. My stomach dropped. That’s when I saw the NOTE taped to one of the bags. ⬇️
