The Junior Finance Association recently marked another milestone in student advocacy! Last March 5, the DOrSU Gymnasium was filled with energy as we hosted the Consumer Education Seminar, in collaboration with the DTI Mati.

Our VP for External Affairs, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐤𝐚 𝐂. 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐧, opened the program by warmly welcoming the participants and highlighting the importance of consumer awareness among students. According to her, many consumers experience violations of their rights without even realizing it, making seminars like this all the more relevant and necessary.

We were honored to have 𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐝𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐚 from the DTI as our keynote speaker. His expert-led discussion on consumer rights and protection laws provided everyone with the practical tools needed to navigate the market with confidence and integrity.

To conclude, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐲 𝐕. 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐩𝐚 shared a resonant closing message, reminding us that being a “wise consumer” is a daily practice of mindfulness.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | In Purok Mangingisda, Barangay Tamisan, Mati City, the 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 successfully conducted its FinLit Outreach Program on March 22 for the Happy Fish Kids at the Happy Fish Kids Learning Center, founded by Dr. Ponce.

‎The program centered on an interactive storytelling session led by Ms. Mikka Labilon, which highlighted the importance of patience, saving, and financial responsibility among young learners. Ms. Mikka’s lecture hoped to plant a seed: that even the smallest coin, saved little by little, can turn into something bigger—something meaningful. Complementing this were engaging activities facilitated by the Master of Ceremony, Marjun Latiban, who ensured active participation through games and prize distribution.

‎In line with the organization’s objective, the children received school supplies, food, and 𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒚𝒂 to encourage the practical application of saving habits.

‎“I hope your enthusiasm will remain strong, and always remember that you are, after all, the hope of the nation,” said Sir Francisco Baraquel to the HFK as the program concluded.
‎
‎The JFA extends its sincere appreciation to the BSBA students for their valuable contributions, to the organization’s advisers—Sir Francisco Baraquel and Dr. Rizaldy Maypa—for their support, and above all, to the Almighty for the success of this initiative. May this effort inspire more organizations and individuals to lend a hand to young learners like the Happy Fish Kids.
