Good Morning, Detectives! 🕵️‍♂️🦺

Be sure to work as a Competent Hazard Detective today!
Here are some essential skills to help sharpen your keen eye for spotting hazards on the construction site:

🔎 1. Stay Situationally Aware
Keep your head on a swivel. Continuously observe your surroundings—not just where you're walking or working, but also above, below, and around you.

🧠 2. Use the "What if?" Mindset
Ask yourself: "What could go wrong here?" Thinking ahead helps reveal potential hazards before they lead to incidents.

🛠 3. Know the Job Activities and Workflow
Understand the scope of work, tools, equipment, and sequence of activities. This lets you anticipate risks associated with each task.

👀 4. Observe Body Positions and Behaviors
Look at how workers lift, climb, or operate machinery. Unsafe postures and shortcuts are red flags for ergonomic or procedural hazards.

📋 5. Check for Housekeeping and Material Storage
Poor housekeeping is a telltale sign of deeper safety issues. Tripping hazards, blocked exits, or materials stored improperly are often overlooked.

⚠️ 6. Listen and Look for Warning Signs
Alarms, machine noises, odors, leaks, or unusual movements can signal hazards not immediately visible.

📷 7. Use Visual Tools
Take photos, mark-up hazard zones, or use hazard logs/checklists to reinforce your findings and make reports more effective.

🎯 8. Trust Your Instincts and Speak Up
If something “feels” wrong, investigate or raise it. Instinct is a powerful tool developed through experience and vigilance.

Be a proactive safety hero today—not just for compliance, but for people and the planet. 🌍👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

Stay safe and sharp, Detectives!
