Myth: Large capacity power supplies consume more power.

Fact: Quick answer is NO. A power supply only needs to deliver power that the system needs hence a system that has a 400W PSU will not have its power draw change if the power supply was changed to a 1000W. Of course, factors like efficiency come into play but that's for another discussion.
