The oarfish is a deep-sea fish known for its long, ribbon-like body and metallic silver scales. It can grow up to 36 feet (11 meters), making it one of the longest bony fish in the ocean. Often called the “sea serpent”, it is rarely seen near the surface and is believed to be an omen of earthquakes in some cultures. Despite its intimidating appearance, the oarfish is harmless, feeding mainly on plankton and small sea creatures. 🌊🐟
