Every summer, all we really crave is something cooler.

Hey, MJAians!

As the school year ends, summer rolls in like a long-awaited freedom. This summer is tailor-made for relaxation, enjoyment, and finally allowing ourselves to slow down. The heat this year is no joke, but instead of complaining β€” some of us are embracing it as the perfect time to pull out that swimwear, pack the snacks, and start prepping for that summer dump with our loved ones!

Since summer has kicked in, we begin to experience the heat and its effects on us, which makes us desire a cool escape. This season allows us to wind down from all the stress that we’ve been carrying. As students, summer is the perfect window for us to finally shed the weight of endless lessons and assignments, the pressure that we've been carryingβ€”and to do the things we’ve been dreaming about all year.

Vacations, travel, and staycation continue to be popular activities worldwide during the summer months. But what's truly interesting about this kind of leisurely activity is the fact that going somewhere far doesn’t have to be a necessity just because you want somewhere cold. No matter how much you love staying inside during summer with the air conditioner running, or if you’re a fan of something exciting, there are so many places in Norzagaray, Bulacan that will satisfy all of your summertime desires!

If swimming is your vibe, Adventure Resort is known as a relaxing yet fun place that stands out as a go-to escape. Tucked in Sitio Gulod, Tigbe, Adventure Resort is a great place to visit for many reasons, ranging from swimming pools, unique photo spots, and other unique installations, including miniature landmarks from around the world. These include a towering 40-foot Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, the Grand Canal of Venice, the Pyramid and Sphinx. We get the perfect mix of adventure without needing to leave Bulacan.

But if you feel like appreciating nature, Norzagaray’s rivers offer a cooler alternative. Bakas River in Barangay Matictic stands out as one of Bulacan’s underrated gems. It is known for its clear waters and rock formations. It is called Bakas (which means β€˜footprint’) because of the rock formations along its riverbank which resemble the footprint said to have been left by a famous mythical character named Bernardo Carpio. Nearby, Bilad-Bilad River offers a similar scene with its peaceful waters and calm ambiance.

These two places could provide us with that summer refreshment that we deserve; however, every thrill requires respect. Rivers can shift with strong currents and uneven depths, especially after rain, so we should always swim with a group, heed local warnings, and skip risky jumps. Caution remains your best companion.

It doesn’t matter whether you opt for the thrill in the resorts or relaxing experience by the riverβ€”it’s not only the chance to get away from the scorching heat but a great opportunity to reclaim your time and spend it with yourself and those close to us. After a year full of pressure and deadlines, we've earned the right to slow down and breathe.

Be present. Stay adventurous. Most importantly, be with the ones who make us feel at home. So take this chance to make more memories along with people who matter to us.
