The façade of IFI Bautista was designed by JakStone Engineering and Design in 2022. It is a special project for us as it is the last church façade we designed featuring stone cladding.

𝗢𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗙𝗜 𝗣𝗿𝗼-𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻, 𝗥𝗼𝘅𝗮𝘀, 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗼.

The proposed design for the Holy Child Cathedral of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro is a harmonious blend of classic and modern architecture that embodies timeless elegance while embracing contemporary sensibilities.

Rooted in Neoclassical design, the structure integrates Mangyan-inspired motifs, such as the buon-buon weaving pattern, symbolizing the rich local culture.

Its facade echoes native dwellings yet retains the familiar grace of a traditional Filipino town church, creating a distinct identity for the IFI.

The stained-glass windows, shaped after the bishop’s mitre, reflect the faith’s guiding principles, while the Holy Cross and the IFI emblem emphasize its Catholic and Apostolic heritage.

A stately bell tower on the left side stands with three symbolic pillars representing theology, geography, and history.

Altogether, the design honors both faith and heritage—standing as a proud cathedral and cultural landmark for Roxas and the province of Mindoro, embodying the Church’s enduring mission of Pro Deo et Patria (“For God and Country”).

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗗𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗜𝗙𝗜 𝗦𝗧𝗔. 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗕𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗛𝗔𝗡

A new chapter in the life of the Misyong Parokya ni Sta. Monica of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente at Barangay Mamanga Daku, Plaridel, Misamis Occidental has officially begun as the construction of its new church building is now underway. More than the construction of a physical structure, this project stands as a living testament to the faith, unity, and spirit of bayanihan demonstrated by the parish community.

The future church has been thoughtfully designed with a blend of Classical and Modern architectural elements, ensuring that its beauty will remain timeless while adapting to contemporary architectural trends. Its façade combines Neo-Classical and Indigenous Filipino architecture, preserving the traditional appearance commonly associated with parish churches throughout the Philippines while embracing a distinct local identity.

A unique feature of the design is the incorporation of patterns inspired by the weaving traditions of the Subanon people, the indigenous cultural community of Misamis Occidental. These artistic elements are integrated into the church façade as a tribute to the province’s rich cultural heritage and as a symbol of the Church’s connection with the people it serves.

The church will also feature stained-glass windows adorned with symbols, images, and forms related to the ministries and sacraments of the Church. Decorative moldings on the façade columns will further enhance its beauty. Beyond their architectural function, these columns symbolize the strength and steadfastness of both the Church and its faithful members.

Standing prominently at the center of the structure will be the church bell tower, designed not only as a spiritual landmark but also as a representation of the community's identity. Inspired by the name Mamanga Daku, which means “large mango tree,” the bell tower symbolizes growth, stability, and rootedness in faith. At its crown will stand three pillars representing the Holy Trinity, the three major island groups of the Philippines, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao; and the enduring mission of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente to serve both God and Country, Pro Deo et Patria.

As construction begins, the parish community continues to demonstrate that the project is not merely about building a church, but about building a stronger and more united faith community. Every volunteer, donor, worker, and parishioner who contributes to this endeavor becomes part of a shared mission that will benefit generations to come.

​We are overjoyed to share the transformation of the sanctuary and the new retablo of the IFI Parish of St. John the Baptist in Poblacion Norte, Caba, La Union.

​This project embodies a thoughtful enhancement of the existing sacred space. Rather than replacing the past, it builds upon it, preserving what is valuable while introducing improvements that enrich the worship experience.

​This project beautifully reflects our commitment to:

​Cost-Efficient Stewardship: Beautifying and improving church structures with the least possible financial cost.

​Structural Preservation: Achieving a stunning transformation with minimal alteration to the existing building.

​Designed with simplicity, beauty, and reverence in mind, the sanctuary primarily utilizes white and gold tones to create an atmosphere reflecting the glory and majesty of God.

The overall concept seeks to inspire prayer, devotion, and a deeper awareness of the sacred presence of Christ in worship, in keeping with Article of Religion No. 9 of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente and Section III of the Sixth Fundamental Epistle of Obispo Maximo Gregorio Aglipay.

Guided by these teachings, the sanctuary was designed to maintain a clear Christ-centered focus. Every architectural and decorative element was carefully planned to direct the attention of worshippers toward Christ crucified and the Blessed Sacrament, while ensuring that all other religious images remain in their proper place as aids to devotion and reminders of faithful Christian witness.

Designed with simplicity, beauty, and reverence in mind, the sanctuary primarily uses white and gold tones to create an atmosphere that reflects the glory and majesty of God. The overall concept seeks to inspire prayer, devotion, and a deeper awareness of the sacred presence of Christ in worship, in keeping with Article of Religion No. 9 of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente.

The main goal of this sanctuary is to provide a simple, bright, and dignified altar that the parish can proudly call its own. Great care was taken in the design and construction to preserve much of the existing structure and avoid unnecessary alterations. This approach allowed the parish to improve the sanctuary while remaining faithful to its history and identity.

Every element and ornament was carefully planned so that nothing would distract the attention of worshippers. Instead, each detail guides the eyes toward the center of the altar, where the image of Christ crucified and the tabernacle containing the Blessed Sacrament are located. In accordance with the teachings of the Church, the sanctuary emphasizes the centrality of Christ, ensuring that worship and devotion remain focused on Him.

The sanctuary's bright and welcoming atmosphere was carefully designed to foster prayer, reflection, and reverence. Its overall appearance conveys a sense of purity, holiness, and divine glory while bringing comfort and hope to those who come before the altar, especially worshippers carrying the burdens and challenges of daily life. One of the notable carved decorations added to the sanctuary is the dove, a symbol of the Holy Spirit, reminding the faithful of God's abiding presence and guidance.

Another significant feature of the sanctuary is the installation of relief images of the Four Evangelists on the side walls of the sanctuary. Each Evangelist is depicted together with his traditional symbol: St. Matthew with the winged man or angel, St. Mark with the lion, St. Luke with the ox, and St. John with the eagle.

These symbols, rooted in the ancient tradition of the Church, represent the unique character and message of each Gospel. Their presence in the sanctuary serves as a reminder that the Church is founded upon the witness of the Apostles and the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Positioned along the sanctuary walls, they symbolize how the Word of God surrounds and supports the life of the Church, continually guiding the faithful toward Christ, who remains the center of worship and salvation.

Much of the sanctuary wall was finished with brickwork to further highlight the beauty and prominence of the retablo. The texture and color of the brick background provide contrast that allows the altar and its sacred elements to stand out more clearly and beautifully.

The church ceiling was likewise enhanced to complement and emphasize the beauty of the altar. Its design and decorations were carefully arranged so that they would not draw attention away from Christ but instead lead the eyes toward Him. Small lights symbolizing the stars provide illumination within the church and create an atmosphere of reverence, peace, and inspiration.

This sanctuary stands as a sign of love, dedication, and appreciation for our Iglesia Filipina Independiente. It reflects a continuing effort to develop beautiful, meaningful, and distinctly Filipino places of worship while preserving the heritage entrusted to us by those who came before. More than an architectural improvement, it is an expression of faith and a testimony to the unity and generosity of the parish community.

Above all, this sanctuary is our humble and special offering to Almighty God ,an offering made possible through the faith, generosity, sacrifices, and hard work of many faithful individuals. May it continue to serve as a sacred place where generations of worshippers can gather to glorify God, receive spiritual nourishment, find comfort and strength, and deepen their relationship with Christ for many years to come.
