As January comes to a close, the school year reaches its midway point. Papers begin to pile up, lessons grow more challenging, and it’s easy to lose yourself in the rush. In the middle of it all, remember to stay balanced. Keep yourself hydrated, talk to someone when things feel heavy, and always make time to rest.

𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘣𝘺: 𝘈𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘈𝘭𝘢𝘰𝘯

𝗪𝗘𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 | PAGTUGKOP: Humanities Days 2025

To foster the integration of the humanities and STEM, the Philippine Science High School – Eastern Visayas Campus held PAGTUGKOP: Humanities Days 2025 from December 16 to 18, with the theme “Celebrating the Harmony of Humanities and STEM.” The three-day celebration highlighted how creativity and intellect intersect, connecting hearts and minds through art, design, music, and performance.

The event commenced with a Eucharistic Celebration followed by an opening program. The keynote speaker Ma. Stefanie I. Caintic, MBA, a fashion designer and alumna of PSHS-EVCL, emphasized the role of design thinking and STEM in enriching the humanities, particularly through problem-solving and creative innovation.

On the second day, scholars showcased their artistic and musical talents during the Literary Musical Festival. Each grade level competed in themed performances:

Grade 7: Choral Echoes: Voices in Harmony

Grade 8: Green Couture: The Future in Fashion Form

Grade 9: SoundScapes: The Eco-Orchestra Challenge

Grade 10: Eco-Drama: A Musicale for Change

Grades 11 & 12: Unplugged: Melodies for Mother Earth

Humanities Days is an annual campus event that underscores the importance of the humanities and their vital role in shaping a more thoughtful, creative, and human-centered approach to science and technology.

December slips into the hallways like a colder, careful breath,
turning paper-scented walls into green-plastic wreaths.
Yellow gingham skirts go fluttering past the lights that softly gleam,
laughter that rings like ornaments: sweet, shaky, like a fleeting dream.

But joy always carries an ache, a warmth that slowly stings.
You stand beside the glowing tree, not sure what next year brings;
this glittered Pisay, borrowed bright, will dim in four short weeks.
Perhaps nostalgia is the brightly-lit Pisay you’ll come to seek.

And when the carols quiet down, you’re left in that halfway.
This ache will likely linger, and yet you stay.
For even when the lights grow tired and the songs begin to flee,
the stories of this borrowed month stay rooted in the tree.

𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦 | Noise Vs. Voice

In an effort to promote positive thinking among students, Prof. Marie Chiela C. Malcampo, an Associate Professor from the Philippine Normal University, gave an informative talk on various mental health strategies and resilience-building techniques at the PSHS-EVCL gymnasium today.

With the theme “Noise Vs. Voice: Learning to Discern What Really Matters,” Prof. Malcampo discussed the difference between the outside noise and our inside voice. She also discussed methods on how to focus on the voices that truly guide, help, and shape us into better individuals.

Afterwards, student representatives from the various grade levels of PSHS-EVCL gave their respective insights and reflections on the event.

The morning of Sportsfest 2025: Animus Invictus Day 3 featured several championship games, as the competition intensified in November 14. Scholars competed in their major, minor, junior, and e-games events, each performance driven by the pursuit of championship glory as they entered the second to the last day of the tournament.

In the evening, a rave to celebrate the event took place, where the campus got to let loose and enjoy the moment.
