๐—”๐——๐—ฉ๐—œ๐—ฆ๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—ฌ| The college suspended all classes and work across all campuses of Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) today through the issuance of memorandum No. 055 S. of 2026.

This is in line with the recent earthquake that shook the Province of Davao del Norte and other parts of Mindanao earlier today. With this, an intensive structural integrity inspection will be conducted by the Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDANA) of the college.

As a precautionary measure, access to the campus is temporarily restricted until further notice.

Outgoing Federal Student Government (FSG) President Rodney Jhon Gonzales issued a sharp call for more students to step forward and lead during his final State of the Student Government Address (SOSGA) at Pasidungog 2026: Honoring Leaders Across New Dimensions, held at the DNSC Gym, Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Gonzales delivered his warning regarding a sharp decline in campus civic participation before SUC President III, Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa, administered the simultaneous mass oath-taking of newly elected FSG, Local Student Government (LSG), and Program-Based Organization (PBO) officers.

He revealed that despite a successful transition to a federal system, a rising wave of student apathy left the majority of student government positions completely uncontested in the recent automated campus polls, with only two campus organizations seeing competitive races.

"The strength of student governance is not measured by the number of positions we create, but by the number of students willing to answer the call to serve," Gonzales stressed, urging the incoming executive batch and the general student body to reverse the trend. "If we remain indifferent to this growing concern, we risk raising a generation that speaks of leadership in theory and social media posts, but hesitates to practice it in reality."

Before administering the mass oath, Dr. Sorrosa commended the pioneering transition block and lauded Gonzales's administration for demonstrating genuine public service rather than personal ambition.

"Your leadership has been a testament to excellence. You implemented initiatives with courage and respect. Proving that true leaders do not seek attention, but earn it through service," Sorrosa stated.

Directly after the newly elected officers took their oaths, Dr. Sorrosa delivered her Words of Challenge, charging the incoming roster to remain grounded as public servants and maintain a strict balance between campus service and academic excellence.

"Remember, the administration stands with you, ready to guide and support you and nurture your vision so long as it serves the greater good of the student body. That's always our mantra," Sorrosa emphasized, reminding the leaders that the students remain the core priority of the institution. "You are not just officers of the student government. You are stewards of hope, bearers of values, and builders of a legacy that will outlast your time."

The ceremony concluded as the newly sworn-in leaders officially assumed their responsibilities to navigate the academic and administrative challenges of the upcoming school year.

๐—•๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—”๐—ž๐—œ๐—ก๐—š ๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช๐—ฆ| 18 former Marines testified before a Senate panel on June 4, 2026, claiming they served as โ€œbagmenโ€ who transported P805 billion in alleged kickbacks from anomalous flood-control projects. The testimonies were based on affidavits the group had submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman.

The hearing was conducted by senators aligned with Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano despite newly appointed Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairperson Sen. Erwin Tulfoโ€™s announcement that the scheduled inquiry had been canceled and moved to June 8. Senator Pia Cayetano initially presided over the proceedings before turning them over to Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.
