As part of its continuous advocacy for food safety, the Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) Food Technology Program participated in the ๐Ÿ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ž ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐จ๐ง ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐š๐ง๐ ๐’๐š๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง f๐จ๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ž๐ F๐จ๐จ๐ ๐’๐šf๐ž๐ญ๐ฒ ๐Ž๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐จf ๐๐š๐ง๐š๐›๐จ ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ on November 6, 2025.

Represented by ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐‹๐ž๐ขz๐ž๐ฅ ๐“. ๐„๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฅ๐š, the program followed up on the progress of crafting and establishing the local food safety ordinance, sharing insights drawn from years of research and extension initiatives focused on improving food safety practices in the community.

๐—–๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—œ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐—–๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ป graced the committee hearing and showed his full support for the proposed Food Safety Ordinance. This marks an important step toward protecting public health and empowering food vendors through clear, consistent local policies.

The Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) participated in the ๐Ÿ’๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐‘๐ž๐ ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ ๐Œ๐ž๐ž๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‘๐ž๐ ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก, ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ž (๐‘๐‘๐ƒ๐ˆ๐‚ ๐—๐ˆ) held last November 11, 2025, at the Innovation and Technology Resource Center (ITRC), University of the Immaculate Conception Main Campus, Davao City.

Representing the Food Technology Program, ๐‘๐ข๐š ๐‰๐š๐ฒ๐ง๐ž ๐€. ๐“๐š๐›๐ข๐ง๐š๐ฌ, BSFT Faculty, presented her policy brief titled โ€œ๐’๐š๐Ÿ๐ž ๐๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ, ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก๐ฒ ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ: ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐œ๐ฒ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐’๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐…๐จ๐จ๐ ๐’๐š๐Ÿ๐ž๐ญ๐ฒ ๐†๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐๐š๐ง๐š๐›๐จ ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ, ๐ƒ๐š๐ฏ๐š๐จ ๐๐ž๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ž. The study highlights years of research (2016โ€“2025) on the enhancement of food safety practices and emphasizes the importance of implementing a local food safety ordinance anchored on RA 10611.

The event was also attended by ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ค ๐‘๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ ๐Œ๐š๐ง๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐ฎ๐ข๐š๐จ, DNSC Research and Development Director, who provided strong support for the Food Technology Programโ€™s advocacy for food safety.

Food safety has long been a core advocacy of the DNSC Food Technology Program, with numerous studies conducted over the years to strengthen public awareness, industry compliance, and evidence-based policy recommendations.

Through initiatives like this, DNSC continues to contribute to safer, healthier communities while advancing research-driven solutions in the food sector.
