pink moon doesn't necessarily mean that the moon is really pink. the reason why we called it pink moon is because the april full moon is connected with the springtime bloom of a wildflower that is color pink. the pink moon derived its name from a hot pink flower called phlox subulata.

the literal 'pink moon' pictures circulating online are just edited to represent its name but in reality, the pink moon doesn't actually look pink. the picture below is one of the real shot of the pink moon.
