ICHABOD
Today, while listening a sermon by Pastor Garry Hamrick in his series on First Samuel, the name Ichabod deeply struck me.
When Phinehas’ wife names her child after hearing that the Ark of the Covenant had been captured, and that both her husband and her father-in-law, Eli, had died. In her grief, she declares, “The glory has departed from Israel.”
I felt a personal challenge.
Israel had slowly begun treating God’s presence like a tool rather than a relationship. Instead of true repentance and obedience, they brought the Ark into battle as if it were a LUCKY CHARM.
Ichabod is a tragic spiritual condition where God’s presence are withdrawn because of persistent disobedience and hardened hearts.
What are the lessons?
1. Small compromises lead to emptiness
The corruption of Hophni and Phinehas [the two sons of Priest Eli] did not happen overnight. It began with tolerated sin and unchecked behavior until something sacred was lost.
As parents, It areminds me that we must not neglect our first ministry, family and children God has entrusted to us. No amount of success can composite failures in the home.
2. It is possible to be religious yet still lose God’s presence
What matters most is not the appearance, but the condition of the heart.
As I reflect on Ichabod, I don’t just see Israel’s story—I see a warning for our own heart.
A reminder to guard our intimacy with God.
A reminder to value His presence above routine.
A reminder to never become comfortable with distance.
Because the most dangerous place to be is not outside of church—but inside it, while the heart is far from God.
Conclusion:
God has never abandon His people, but when His people try to use God or manipulate God for our selfish and sinful purposes, there is something to pay

“GOD WON’T multiply with what you Mismanage”
God is not obligated to grow what you’re too distracted to guard
You can’t ask God for more,
While mismanaging what’s in your hands
Don’t pray for overflow
While living out of order
Excellence is evidence
You’re ready for elevation
God’s multiplication flows through
Mastery not mess
If you’re sloppy with the feed,
Don’t expect a harvest
Multiplication follows order-
Not emotion, not ambition not assumption
Before you ask God for more,
You must first return to Him in alignment and surrendered

ECCLESIASTES 3:1-8
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
