Monlupiravir has been hailed as the game changer of drugs when it comes to covid. studies have shown it is effective when given early or in mild cases. it hinders replication by creating transcription errors

it seems to me like it might be expensive at an estimated 700usd per treatment (a 5 day course at 800mg bid) sana wag naman.
while API cost is said to be 20usd only. Distribution is said to be handled by Faberco and Ritemed.

the better sleeper drug imo is Favipiravir. it has a very similar mechanism of action to Monlupiravir as it targets the same RNA polymerase specifically RdRp it also hinders viral transcription and replication through binding. It is available now at a fraction of the cost.

but the TRUE sleeper title has to go to Umifenovir. first, its cheaper. second, it recently finished a clinical trial in India to determine effective dosage, with astounding results. this drug has a different target or mechanism. it hinders viral replication by directly interacting with the spike glycoprotein thus preventing the virus from binding to our cells. the advantage of Umifenovir is it can deny cell entry to the virus thus it can be used as prophylaxis. did i mention its cheaper💯
