WHEN THE ALARM SOUNDED, PRHS RESPONDED: A Powerful Display of Readiness During the 2nd Quarter NSED 2026

The sound of the alarm echoed across the school. Within seconds, classrooms transformed into scenes of action, discipline, and preparedness as learners and personnel of Pilar Rural High School executed the life-saving "Drop, Cover, and Hold On"procedure during the successful conduct of the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED).

More than just a simulation, the activity served as a powerful demonstration of how preparedness, teamwork, and presence of mind can save lives when disaster strikes.

Students, teachers, and school personnel actively participated in a series of emergency response activities, including evacuation procedures, accounting of victims, simulated rescue and medical operations, transport of casualties, and post-drill evaluation. The exercise highlighted the school's unwavering commitment to building a culture of safety and resilience.

A significant highlight of the event was the active participation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC)represented by the Head of the Provincial DRRMO, Mr. Elmer B. Bersamin whose presence reinforced the importance of disaster preparedness and community resilience. Their valuable insights and support further strengthened the school's emergency preparedness initiatives.

The activity was likewise graced by the Pilar Municipal Police Station (MPS)led by Police Captain Allan Angelo Rojo, whose presence underscored the strong partnership between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies in safeguarding lives and promoting public safety.

Adding prestige and wider public awareness to the event was the presence of Balitang Solid North, which covered the entire activity and helped amplify the message that disaster preparedness is everyone's responsibility.

The school also expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Principal II Susan A. Mina, SDRRM Coordinator Ezrah Francis Bobby Bersalona, MDRRMO personnel, RHU responders, Red Cross volunteers, faculty members, students, and all stakeholders whose dedication and collaboration contributed to the overwhelming success of the activity.

Today, PRHS did more than conduct a drill.

✅ It strengthened preparedness.
✅ It tested emergency response systems.
✅ It empowered learners with life-saving skills.
✅ It proved that readiness is the strongest defense against disaster.

Because earthquakes do not send warnings—but preparedness can make all the difference.

💚 A prepared school is a protected school.
💚 A resilient school builds a resilient community.
💚 Prepared Today. Protected Tomorrow.

THE COMEBACK OF COURAGE: Turning Learning Struggles into Success

Not all learners begin at the same pace. Some struggle to read, write, solve problems, or keep up with lessons. Some have experienced failure and self-doubt. But the successful implementation of the ARAL Summer Program at Pilar Rural High School proved one important truth:

A learner who struggles today can succeed tomorrow when given the right support, time, and opportunity.

What seemed impossible at the start became possible through patience, determination, and hard work. Learners who were once hesitant to participate became more confident. Those who were afraid of making mistakes learned that every mistake is a chance to learn and grow.

This meaningful achievement was made possible through the strong leadership of Ma'am Susan A. Mina, Principal II, the dedicated supervision of Ma'am Rodalyn A. Bagtuna, Head Teacher III, and the tireless commitment of our ARAL Tutors; Ma'am Kristine Gerard M. Turqueza and Sir Jarpen Dave Cabanting, who gave their time, effort, and hearts to ensure that no learner was left behind.

To every learner who thinks they are not good enough: Failure is not the end of your story. It is often the beginning of your greatest comeback. Keep learning. Keep believing. Keep moving forward.

💙 Because every child deserves a chance.
💙 Every effort matters.
💙 Every learner can shine.
