These two little Australian Shepherds belonged to our caretaker, who moved away.

Every day, I saw them outside, playing near the house… but always a little reserved, not really comfortable around people. Often, they would come and sit side by side on the tiles at the edge of the driveway, like in the photo, and observe everything in silence, as if they only had each other.

One afternoon, I realized they looked too thin. You could see it in their small frame and the way they waited rather than ran. So I took some food and put it out for them.

And then, everything changed.

The next day, they were waiting for me. Little tails wagging, eyes locked on mine. Then, very quickly, every time I arrived, they came to me as if I had always been “their” human.

I hadn't planned on keeping them. I already have dogs, and I certainly wasn't looking to adopt two puppies… much less two such endearing Australian Shepherds: one blue merle, the other red merle, always glued to each other.

But love doesn't ask permission.

Without me even realizing it, these two loyal little souls found a place in my heart.

So I made my decision: they're not leaving. They're safe. They're home.

Everyone, here are Blue and Green 💙💚

Change their names

Of course — here's the same story with new names (I suggest a duo that goes well with the merle colors):

I brought my baby home from the shelter the other day. This is Peanut.

She was sitting quietly in her kennel when I first saw her—tiny, with wide-open eyes, trying to be brave. When the volunteer placed her in my arms, she tucked her little head under my chin, as if she'd finally found a safe place to rest. That was it. She was mine… and I was hers.

On the way home, there were soft purrs and curious glances through the carrier. And as soon as we walked through the front door, she came out as if she already owned the place. A cautious little sniff, a delicate paw on the sofa, and then straight onto my lap.

Now she follows me from room to room, learning what it means to be loved. And I'm ready to spoil her with cozy blankets, overflowing bowls, and a lifetime of kisses on her forehead.

Welcome home, Peanut. You'll never have to wonder if you're wanted again.
