𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐭𝐚𝐲 (𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡")

Taytay was the first capital of Palawan during the Spanish colonial era (founded in 1622). It is famous for the discovery and preservation of 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥 (Fuerza de Santa Isabel).

• 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: The fort was built in 1667 to defend against pirate attacks. It was constructed using coral stones and limestone.

• 𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲": For many visitors, the "discovery" of Taytay refers to finding its hidden lagoons, Lake Danao, and the 400-year-old Spanish fortress that bridges the ancient and modern history of the province.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐭𝐚𝐲" 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧: As seen in this photo, the hills behind the fort now feature a large "TAYTAY" sign, similar to the Hollywood sign, which has become a modern landmark for the town.
