They say opposite attract,
like how I, the blue,
have been drawn to you, the yellow.

Funny, because you didn’t even know me, yet umaasa ako na maging tayo. Nakabuo na ako ng sandaang senaryo sa isip ko, at ang ending–ikaw at ako. Pwede bang ikaw na lang mag first move at umamin kahit ako naman ang may gusto sayo?

Then the unexpected happened, I bump into you at the corridor, na parang nasa teleserye nahulog ang libro mo’t sabay nating pinulot ang mga ito, we stared at each other at uminit ang pakiramdam ko dumampi na pala sa pisngi ko ang palad mo, sampal mo pala.

Na-reality check ako bigla.

Who will I believe if they say
“Sumpa’ng paghaluin ang asul at dilaw,”
That yellow symbolizes euphoria,
And blue was born from despair.
One brings calm, the other is storm,
Mga kulay na sadyang hindi itinadhana sa isa’t isa.

Like Sol, who shines in the day
and Luna, the star of the night
Their story of sacrifice,
Where the sun must set
For the moon shall rise.
One must fade in sight
So the other could bloom so bright.

Andaming atras-abante, pasakalye’t mga kwentong hinuhule ko’t bigla kong naramdaman sa’yo to. Kung paano tinamaan ni pepito yung jackpot sa lotto, tila sayo’y tinamaan na rin ako. Na tulad sa kanta ni Kalo na “Shot Puno,” sa karagatan ng mga tao, ikaw lang nakikita ko. Kumbaga, parang lente ng kamera, naka auto focus lang sa’yo.

Isa kang dyamante, porselana kung ingatan, mala-Ms. World na kagandahan, kahit na height mo’y ‘di naman kataasan. Kaya’t nagduda ako. Sino nga ba’ng magkakagusto sa tulad ko? A nearly 6-footer, nerdy, introvert, maputi, at walang kaibigan. Sana tayo na lang para pwedeng magka-ibigan.

We never thought that day and night will meet,
But in the eclipse, their destiny’s seat.
Everything stopped like a quiet space.
Space that’s ours, we both embrace

Then one ordinary afternoon, I'm in the rooftop playing scenario of us dancing in a room. Biglang bumigat yung yung pakiramdam ko, umupo ka sa tabi't sumandal sa braso ko. "Our second eclipse, baby?" bulong ko.

Words found their way to dance, shifting my fear into calmness you made. We talked for minutes that feels like days, so imersed to it na hanggang pag-uwi ko'y kumakanta ako ng "Sway."

Simula no’n ay nagbago. Naging magkaibigan tayo’t tila hindi na malayo yung pangarap kong magkaro’n ng dash at maging magka-ibigan na tayo. Pero dahil sa The 1987 Philippine Constitution Article 3 Section 12, I have the right to remain silent. Hence, I am guilty for being in love with you.

“Nothing lasts forever,” or so they say.
As Sol and Luna has to wait,
Another 375 years of their fate
That fleeted time became timelapsed
Our safe spaces, now collapsed

Habang naglalakad tayo pauwi, hinila kita sa paborito nating cafe. Pag pwesto nati’y aking isinatinig ang damdaming namamalagi sa mga buntong hininga. “Tulad ng mga bulaklak na marahang bumubukadkad sa umaga, ako nama’y unti-unting nahuhulog sa’yo sinta.

Ang pundasyong sa kongkreto sinimulan, naging buhangin–napalitan. Apat na buwan at apat na araw, natapos sa apat na salita “Sa ngayon, huwag muna,” kasabay ng mapait mong ngiti. Pinili mong hanapin muna ang sarili mong liwanag bago sumabay sa sinag ng iba.

Mula noong araw na iyon ay bumalik tayo sa umpisa. Wala nang kamustahan, may tensyon ang bawat salubungan, hinahanap kita, umiiwas ka, kinalauna’y hindi na kita nakita pa.

Like a dark shade of blue,
Hoping to meet your yellow hue.
Wishing our colours be combined,
Then you and I will be in bind.
In ways that were once in mind
Until we create that perfect hide.

But…

Rules can be broken,
And seek harmony even if forbidden
We may be told we’re not meant to blend,
Two tones, too different to comprehend,
pretty sure we could be the “hue”
that completes each other's “you”.

And like the 51 essays written by Hamilton, In order to protect his constitution, ay handa akong suungin ang kahit anong universo, maging hantungan ko lang ay sa’yo.

Funny, because in reality, all of these are just one of those scenarios.
To ease these feelings harnessed in a dream
Where I let the hues spread out to deem
A story worthy of world that never came to be
That I am the protagonist–a shade of blue,
wondering a lifetime where it’s me and you.

𝗯𝘆 Channel Concepcion

Following the directive of Gov. Sol Aragones-Sampelo, Chairperson of the Laguna University Board of Regents, the Technical Working Group (TWG), led by Dr. John Matthew Aquino, commenced the institutional assessment of Laguna University (LU) to evaluate the university’s governance, organizational structure, and operational processes as part of efforts to strengthen institutional effectiveness on Thursday, July 2.

The assessment was conducted pursuant to a memorandum issued by Gov. Sol Aragones, directing all faculty members, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and staff to report for work and extend their full cooperation to the TWG throughout the conduct of the assessment.

During the opening session, Aquino explained that the assessment aims to identify opportunities for improvement and align the university’s existing systems with its long-term institutional goals.

He also clarified that the assessment should not be interpreted as an indication that LU has been operating incorrectly but rather as a step toward enhancing organizational efficiency. “Hindi dahil may babaguhin, mali ang LU. Ia-align lang natin siya to make the organization work much more efficiently,”Aquino added.

As part of the institutional assessment, Aquino also shared that the university’s revised Faculty Development Plan will be finalized and implemented on or before the start of the upcoming academic year, describing it as one of the TWG’s priority initiatives to strengthen faculty development and institutional support.

Aquino also underscored the importance of advancing faculty welfare alongside student development, stressing that the institutional reforms should benefit both learners and educators.

“We shouldn’t just think about what we can give to the students, but also what we deserve,” Aquino said.

The assessment is expected to generate recommendations that will strengthen governance, streamline institutional processes, and reinforce Laguna University’s commitment to its vision of becoming a socially responsive educational institution of choice and to its mission of producing academically prepared, technically skilled, socially and morally upright individuals.

Today, we commemorate the 𝟖𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐚𝐲, in remembrance of the establishment of the Republic of the Philippines on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟒,𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟔—the day that marked the beginning of a new chapter in the nation's journey an independent and democratic country.

More than just a date in the Philippine history, but also a reminder to every Filipino—that the Republic of the Philippines is not built by corruption, manipulation, and dishonesty, but by the ideals of patriotism, democracy and public service.

As we honor the sacrifices, and celebrate this significant occasion, may we draw inspiration from the past, and continue to embody the spirit of a free, united, and progressive Philippines.
