Study Tip #1: The Pomodoro Technique
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. It uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a "pomodoro", from the Italian word for tomato, after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer Cirillo used.
Here's how it works:
π Choose a task: Decide on the task you need to complete.
π Set the timer: Set a timer for 25 minutes.
π Work with focus: Work on the task until the timer rings. If you get distracted, note it down and get back to the task.
π Take a short break: Once the timer rings, mark off one pomodoro and take a 5-minute break. Get up, stretch, grab a drink β anything to give your mind a quick rest.
π Repeat: After four pomodoros, take a longer break, typically 15-30 minutes.
This technique is great for improving focus, reducing burnout, and increasing productivity. By breaking down your study time into manageable chunks, it makes daunting tasks seem less overwhelming and helps maintain a consistent pace.
Have you ever tried the Pomodoro Technique? What are your thoughts on it?

Congratulations on your incredible achievement, Jack Xymon! Your success at the 2nd National Math Challenge is a testament to the passion and dedication you have for mathematics. This victory is your own, earned through hard work, persistence, and a true love of learning.
As the great mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss said, "It is not knowledge, but the act of learning, not possession but the act of getting there, which grants the greatest enjoyment."
Today, we celebrate not just the outcome, but the enjoyment of the journey you took to get hereβthe rigorous training, the challenging problems you conquered, and the growth that came with every step. Your NATC family is so proud of you. π
