An impacted lower third molar...a straightforward surgical plan. But as we know, the oral cavity rarely follows the script. In this case, during what appeared to be a successful third molar sectioning, split and delivery, we were confronted with a challenge that transforms a standard procedure into a complicated retrieval of a broken root fragment.

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last set of teeth to erupt, usually between the ages of 17 and 25. The procedure is typically performed by a dentist or oral surgeon under local or general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of the case. Post-extraction recovery involves managing swelling, pain, and potential bleeding, with most people recovering within a few days to a week.
