Today, we remember the names etched in our history—but we also give tribute to the unsung heroes of our daily lives: our farmers. 🌾

They may not wear capes nor hold swords, but with their hands deep in the soil, they fight hunger, sustain communities, and keep the nation alive. 💚

As we celebrate this day of valor, let us also honor and support the silent heroes who feed every Filipino household. 🙌

𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗 and 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗧 | 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

On June 10–11, 2025, thirty (30) Indigenous People (IP) students from Mindoro State University (MinSU) came together for a two-day Leadership Training designed to enhance their leadership skills and cultivate their potential as stewards of their cultural heritage and the land they’ve long called home.

Recognizing that our 𝗜𝗣𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲, this training aimed to develop their competencies in leadership, self-awareness, and community engagement—equipping them to become active voices in both local and national conversations.

This meaningful initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧 (𝙁𝙁𝙋𝘾𝘾), led by the dynamic and supportive 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗔. 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗼. Her commitment to inclusive development continues to create lasting impacts for MinSU’s diverse student body. Assisted by her ABEL students; 𝗠𝘀. 𝗞𝗿𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗱, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘀. 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻.

One of the College of Arts and Sciences’ dedicated faculty members, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗘𝗹𝗷𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗼 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘇𝗮, also played a vital role in the program as one of the esteemed resource speakers. 𝘼 𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧, Mr. Villeza brought with him expertise in student empowerment, mental wellness, and personal development—leaving a profound impact on the participants.

𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗻𝗼 𝗦. 𝗦𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆𝗶, a proud member of the Indigenous community himself, brought both insight and inspiration. As 𝙖 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙋𝙨𝙮𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙣, his journey from grassroots to professional success resonated deeply with the participants. His presence stood as a powerful reminder that Indigenous identity is not a barrier—but a strength.

Most notably, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗷𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲 the 𝙁𝙁𝙋𝘾𝘾 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 personally attended and delivered a message of inspiration and solidarity. His presence emphasized the organization’s deep commitment to fostering inclusive leadership and providing platforms for the IP youth to thrive and lead with pride, dignity, and purpose.

This two-day event was not just a training, but a celebration of identity, leadership, and unity. It stands as a testament to the university’s and FFPCC’s shared mission to build a future where Indigenous voices are heard, valued, and empowered.
