Chasing Clouds

This book has been with me through all these years, and I still haven't found the answers to these questions:

𝘐𝘧 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘑𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘑𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳?

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘑𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘏𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘮, "𝘋𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰"?

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘑𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘎𝘰𝘥'𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘶𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘥?

Without Judas, there is no arrest. Without the arrest, there is no crucifixion. Without the crucifixion, there is no death. Without the death, there is no resurrection. And as First Epistle to the Corinthians 15:13–14 says, "If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith."

Thus, without Judas, there is no salvation. Or who else would have been willing to do it? Saint Peter, who at first appeared courageous, later cowered and publicly denied Jesus three times. Some might argue that this was an even greater failure than Judas's supposed betrayal.

I know many people will reject that conclusion because it provokes theological nausea, especially among those committed to a rigid or literalist reading of the Gospel narratives. Yet these questions have stayed with me through all these years, and I still have not found satisfying answers.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐝 - 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟐
Paul never tells us his Hebrew name was Saul. He never mentions Tarsus. He never identifies Gamaliel as his teacher. All three of these biographical anchors come exclusively from Acts, and the texts themselves make the gap visible.

He is not a man who avoids autobiographical detail when it serves his argument; Galatians 1 and 2 and Philippians 3 are dense with self-description. And yet across all seven letters he never names a hometown, never gives a Hebrew birth name, never credits a teacher.
