The University of Antique Integrated Research Center and Centralized Analytical Testing Laboratory (CATL), in collaboration with the Research Unit, both under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation, warmly invites you to participate in the Hybrid Training on R Programming and Chemometrics under the Balik Scientist Program (BSP).

Three Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Balik Scientists paid a courtesy visit to Undersecretary Leah J. Buendia, and shared their expertise and accomplishments:

1. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗼 𝗩. 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮, 𝗝𝗿.
Dr. Alcantara is currently a short-term Balik Scientist, hosted by DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI). He advances space biomedical research using Caenorhabditis elegans. His project explores radiation and microgravity effects on health, cancer, and food innovations. He develops facilities, supports PNRI R&D, fosters collaborations, and drafts policy, aiming to improve astronaut safety and radiation therapy.

2. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘅𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮
Dr. Montallana is a medium-term balik scientist with expertise on materials engineering and plasma science. She will continue her BSP engagement with UP DMMME, focusing on refining plasma-based devices, enhancing plasma-assisted processes for industrial applications, and strengthening technology transfer mechanisms. She will also foster collaboration with universities engaged in plasma research, including Central Mindanao University (CMU) and UP Baguio, to expand networks and advance plasma science nationwide.

3. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗤. 𝗥𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻
Dr. Raguindin engaged as a short-term balik scientist. She has expertise in chemical engineering, waste valorization, hydrogen production, and energy science. She will provide capacity building on resource recovery from various waste streams, research mentoring, proposal review, and technical consultancy for SubicWater and SOL-H2CORE projects of the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) as her host institution.
