The event will take place on July 9, 2026, at TUP Visayas – Modern Technology Building, where aspiring founders will build a strong foundation in startup development through expert-led learning sessions and interactive discussions.

Designed for our new pre-incubatees, this bootcamp will introduce participants to the fundamentals of building a startup—from understanding the innovation ecosystem and identifying market opportunities to applying design thinking and developing an innovation mindset.

Participants will gain valuable insights from experienced mentors and ecosystem builders as they explore:

𝗧𝗨𝗣 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗦, 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | The Building Unified Growth and Local Acceleration Systems in the Negros Island Region (BUGLAS NIR) ReSEED Consortium, together with the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas (TUP Visayas), held a productive meeting with the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), represented by Mr. Frank Carbon, Vice President, and Mr. Willard Gallo, Director.

The meeting focused on identifying opportunities to strengthen the startup ecosystem by aligning innovation programs with industry needs. Discussions covered regional challenges and high-potential sectors, the importance of value chain development, mentorship, commercialization, and market-driven incubation, as well as harmonizing initiatives among government agencies, industry partners, and higher education institutions.

Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stronger public-private collaboration, enhancing support for startups, and expanding innovation initiatives that will also benefit Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the Negros Island Region.

Through strengthened partnerships and shared expertise, BUGLAS NIR continues to build a more connected, inclusive, and innovation-driven ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs and accelerates sustainable regional development.

A new era for our regional startup ecosystem now has a face. We are proud to formally unveil the winning design that will serve as the permanent visual cornerstone of the BUGLAS NIR Consortium.

The logo design competition officially concluded last July 3, 2026, during the BUGLAS NIR Stakeholders' Meeting. The ultimate emblem was carefully evaluated and chosen by key representatives from our esteemed partner institutions: ALPHA, TUPV, Silliman University, DOST-NOCC, NWTF, DTI, and DICT.

The future of innovation and technopreneurship in the Negros Island Region is brighter than ever.

𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗗 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬, 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - The Building Unified Growth and Local Acceleration Systems in the Negros Island Region (BUGLAS NIR) Regional Startup Enablers for Ecosystem Development (ReSEED) Consortium successfully convened its Stakeholders' Meeting, bringing together consortium members, national government agencies, private sector organizations, and ecosystem partners committed to advancing innovation and entrepreneurship across the Negros Island Region.

The meeting opened with a presentation by Engr. Edward H. Apigo of DOST–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), who provided an overview of the HEIRIT ReSEED Program. He highlighted the program's role in empowering regional startup ecosystems by fostering collaboration among higher education institutions, government agencies, industry partners, and innovation support organizations.

Following this, Engr. Jovel V. Young, Project Leader of BUGLAS NIR, presented the consortium's vision, strategic directions, accomplishments, and priority initiatives toward building a stronger and more connected startup ecosystem in the Negros Island Region.

Recognizing that a thriving startup ecosystem is built through collaboration, partner organizations shared their respective programs and initiatives that support startups, innovators, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs. These presentations featured valuable opportunities for collaboration and ecosystem development from:

• Wadhwani Foundation, represented by Mr. Lucrecio Delgado Jr., Regional Director, WE SEA;
• Department of Information and Communications Technology – Negros Island Region (DICT-NIR), represented by Mr. M-Ryan Coriento, Regional Focal, ICT Industry Development Bureau;
• Department of Science and Technology – Negros Island Region (DOST-NIR), represented by Atty. Gilbert R. Arbon, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations;
• Department of Trade and Industry – Negros Island Region (DTI-NIR), represented by Mr. Althone L. Dy;
• Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF), represented by Mr. Andy Coscolluela, Manager for Strategic Projects;
• Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), represented by Mr. Frank Carbon, Vice President for Government Affairs; and
• ALPHA Bacolod Accelerator Hub, represented by Dr. Mae Ferrer-Llamas, Head of the Department of Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions of Bacolod City LGU.

The presentations paved the way for productive discussions on strengthening synergy among ecosystem players, aligning programs and resources, and identifying collaborative initiatives that will further accelerate the growth of startups and innovation-driven enterprises in the region.

In the afternoon, the consortium convened for its internal meeting, where members were presented with the Top Five finalists of the BUGLAS NIR Logo Competition. Through a collective deliberation and voting process, the consortium selected its official logo—marking another milestone in establishing the identity of BUGLAS NIR as the region's collaborative startup ecosystem builder.

The activity concluded with inspiring closing remarks from Dr. Kim Sarong of Silliman University, who emphasized that the strength of the regional startup ecosystem lies not in the efforts of a single institution but in the collective commitment of partners working toward a common vision.

As BUGLAS NIR continues to bring together government, academia, industry, and innovation support organizations, the consortium remains steadfast in its mission of building a more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable startup ecosystem that empowers innovators, nurtures entrepreneurs, and drives innovation-led economic growth across the Negros Island Region.
