Fight! Stop Colds. Take Vitamins+Zinc. What's your colds go-to fighter? Comment below. I'm a teacher in PH, in a "perfect storm" for viruses. β€οΈRead my story: Are you in an enclosed space with children (who are efficient spreaders of germs), and December brings the Amihan (cool northeast monsoon), which is peak season for respiratory issues.
π Pills: For colds, lozenges are far superior to swallowing a pill. The Zinc needs to physically touch the throat and nasal tissues to block the "locks" (ICAM-1).14 Swallowing a pill bypasses this local protection.

The Right Type: Look for Zinc Gluconate or Zinc Acetate. These release the most "ions" (the active fighters).

Speed Matters: It works best if taken within 24 hours of the first tickle in your throat.15

Don't Overdo It: High doses of Zinc (over 50mg/day) for long periods can block your body's absorption of Copper, another essential mineral.16 If you take it daily for months, ensure your diet includes copper or you take a multivitamin.
