Dearest Aira, Jaiana, and Jazzi,

Today, I finally get to sit and write you a letter which I’ve been meaning to do for the last couple of years. With all the craziness of being a parent and trying to do everything all at the same time for our growing family, I write to tell you how much you guys mean to us. Sometimes, Papa and I share our thoughts about raising you – our joys and fears as parents. So here it is, just a simple letter for you, and will keep writing every time my heart wants me to. Words that may connect us through troubled times and happy days. With all the uncertainties in this world, I take each day as a blessing. I might not be around in the milestones of your life, but I pray for longer years with you and Papa. Every day is a gift and I am grateful for the moments when I can pick you up when you fall or cheer you on your triumphs. Right now, I am simply thankful for this chance to write to you my thoughts as your mother.

As parents, we have the responsibility to protect you, take care of you, love you, and raise you to be good, God-fearing, kind, compassionate, respectful, and responsible individuals. It’s such an enormous, overwhelming, but honorable task given by God to parents! Being a parent is a life-changing opportunity to raise a person who can be a light to others. We are given a deeper and more meaningful purpose – to give you the best life possible. “Best”, not in a material sense but in a more purposeful way. The best life I envision for you, my children, is not the absence of difficulties, but a life that will give you meaning, and genuine happiness.

The adversities will shape your character and I fervently pray that the outcome is what God has designed for you. As parents, we strive to give you the life we know would make you learn the good values that inspire others to do the same. We want you to experience things that will help you learn and uncover your truth and your peace. It sounds so ideal, but in reality, you can be exposed to very challenging situations and much as we would like to shield you, you have your own choices to make.

Nevertheless, we try to be more present in our lives, especially during your formative years. As parents, we work to provide you with your needs. We are blessed with stable jobs that allow us to afford some privileges but always in a practical choice. We ask you to understand that we have our limitations and forgive us in times when you feel we failed you. We make mistakes but you can count on us to do our best with whatever we have in our hands and within our capacity. We love you, even in the moments when we are unable to show you. Despite our limitations, we continue to do what we think is best in every challenging situation.

As you grow, you fill us with so much pride and joy. In moments of misunderstanding and confusion, know that it is part of loving you. Our love is unwavering in whatever stages of your life. And we believe that discipline is one of the most profound ways to love a child. You will make choices in the future, commit mistakes, and may hurt others but we hope that your learnings will be bigger than your failures. Our proudest moment is not just about what you have achieved but how you worked so hard to achieve it. Learn in the process and inspire others at the end of each journey. It is the “climb”, and the lessons that matter.

As I write to you today, may you be inspired and driven to act accordingly in every situation, and may these words resonate when you need encouraging words to help you deal with adversities in the future. I hope that when you read this, you will feel the same emotions I put into the words to allow connection and love to flow. I urge you to keep me in mind as your trusted confidant whenever you find yourself in a tough spot. With my unwavering commitment to your well-being, I vow to be your reliable source of support whenever you need it most. Your confidence in me is of the utmost importance, and I promise to always be there to offer a helping hand, a compassionate ear, and sound guidance.

Take time to ponder the simple joys in life. Keep positive thoughts. Love endlessly… These and more are what make a person truly alive with a purpose that brings out genuine happiness than all the treasures we can have in this world.

We continue to do our best to give you a happy home but in truth, you are our HAPPINESS and our HOME.
