If you see a similar switch(+4/Mic) on your mixer, like this one on a MACKIE 802VLZ, this brings the line level signal of the main outs down to an acceptable level that a mic input can handle. That, and the signal being balanced offers the same functionality as using a stereo Direct Box. You can now connect these outs directly into another mixer's mic inputs for situations like using a small mixer as a subixer for keyboards on stage.
