Son of Atty. Magtanggol Contreras Gunigundo, Former PCGG Chairman (1992-1998) and 1971 Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) Delegate for the 2nd District of Bulacan, and Prof. Sylvia Tanjuan - Gunigundo.
Grandson of Atty. Serafin Dela Cruz Gunigundo, Former Acting Governor and Senior Board Member of the Province of Bulacan. Aside from writing poems in Tagalog, he defended the country during World War II as 2nd Lt, Platoon Leader with Squadron 80, BMA 7RG69, USAFFE and was honored posthumously with a United States of America FilVetRep Congressional Medal last November 2017.
Married to Adelma Asug Yang from Tinambac, Camarines Sur, Finished BS Chemistry from FEU; and taught High School Math and Science subjects at Marisyl School. She was the first female Barangay Chairman (2013-2018) at Barangay Marulas
Finished Elementary & High School at UP Integrated School (UPIS, 1981) and AB Political Science (1985) at the University of the Philippines-Diliman (Iskolar ng Bayan)
