The hike spans several days, beginning in Kibungan, Benguet, crossing through Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, and finally exiting in Santol, La Union.
This trek is classified as a major hike with a difficulty rating of 8 out of 9. It typically requires 2-3 days to complete. However, some valiant trailblazers extend the hike or โ๐๐พ๐ ๐ป๐พ๐๐โ , pushing their limits and embracing the adventure even further. Their determination and resilience truly set them apart on this challenging journey.
The highlights of this tri-provincial traverse begin with the 'Crying Mountain,' named for the natural phenomenon where water cascades down its rocky cliffs, resembling tears. Next, there's the infamous Litalit Trail, carved along an exposed, grassy 80-degree slope, requiring a 600-meter descent to Licungan in Ilocos Sur. Lastly, the Inasan Hanging Bridge over the Amburayan River serves as a boundary between Ilocos Sur and La Union and is the longest bridge of the entire hike, taking approximately 4-5 minutes to cross before reaching the end.
The Kibungan Cross Country (KXC) is a must-try, but it requires a proper mindset and preparation; it's definitely not for the faint-hearted.
