I promise this has to do with MTB training 👇
Just over a year ago I signed up for a new kind of training: trying to turn Mango into a deer hunting dog. We locked into the Big Game Indicating Dogs deer dog blueprint and I committed to training him at least twice per day every single day.
It's crazy how similar training a dog is to training for MTB. I made many mistakes in training, but we kept plugging away and eventually things started working out. The results have been extremely rewarding.
Here are some of the parallels I noticed between dog training and MTB training:
-Have a goal in mind, and don't lose sight of that
-You need a goal because consistency is key. Goals get you out of bed in the morning on a rainy day so you can stay consistent
-You have to stick to the plan, otherwise, what are you doing? (Guilty)
-You have to trust the process.
-Quality beats quantity every time.
-More is not always better. Better is better.
-Look back every once in a while to see how far you've come.
-Stop looking for the magic bullet - focus on doing all the little things right.
-Focus on the controllables because you can't force progress. Things will happen when they happen.
See -- training is simple!
