A courtesy call meeting was held between Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH H.E. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary and Rector International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Osman Bakar, to discuss avenues of mutual cooperation in science, technology, higher education, research, fellowships, and training programs.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary appreciated IIUM’s contributions towards higher education, research, and intellectual development in the Muslim world. He highlighted COMSTECH’s commitment to promoting scientific cooperation, researcher mobility, fellowship programs, and capacity-building initiatives across OIC member states.

The Coordinator General proposed various joint initiatives, including short-term research fellowship programs for IIUM students and researchers, faculty and student exchange opportunities, collaborative training programs, and joint research projects in emerging scientific fields. He also proposed collaborative initiatives for supporting scientists, researchers, and students from conflict-affected regions and Muslim minority communities through academic and research opportunities.

Rector IIUM Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Osman Bakar welcomed the proposals and expressed IIUM’s interest in strengthening collaboration with COMSTECH in the areas of science, education, research, innovation, and academic exchange.

Both sides agreed to further enhance institutional cooperation through joint programs, fellowships, academic mobility, and research collaboration for the benefit of the Muslim world.
