She discusses how hate speech has become a global trend in political discourse, affecting both men and women, but increasingly targeting women in more intense and personal ways—often aimed at silencing their voices in the media.
Mehmal Sarfraz is a prominent Pakistani journalist and political analyst based in Lahore. A regular commentator on national current affairs programs, including Geo News’ Report Card, she has also written for publications such as The News on Sunday and The Wire, and previously served as Deputy Secretary General of the South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA).
Rivets Learning and Sungi Development Foundation, with support from UNDP, are working to counter gender based hate speech.
