NEMO - Realizing Imaginations

Today on August 28, 2019 Karachi Episode of Cyber Secure Pakistan 2019 (CSP19) was conducted by Pakistan Information Security Association (PISA) in National Incubation Center, Karachi. The Conference was attended by all stakeholders from government to private sector and from law enforcement to civil society. Theme of this Edition is “Cybercrime vs Cybersecurity – A dialogue to clear the blur.”

A Panel Discussion was part of the Conference based upon Theme and Panelists were Mr. Mehzad Sahar from Bank Alfalah, Dr. Aftab Rizvi from Risk Associates, Mr. Ali Saqib from State Bank of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Ahmad Zaeem from NR3C FIA, Mr. Aun Abbas Bukhari from Telenor Bank and Mr. Muhammad Ehsan from Jameel & Jameel. Discussion was moderated by Mr. Asif Riaz from Digital Arrays. Panelists discussed about advanced threats to the critical infrastructure and solutions to combat those threats, especially banking industry. They stressed the need of national level and sector wise CERTs for better governance. Keynotes Talks were delivered by Dr. Asad Arfeen, PI of Internet Security and Quantum Technology Lab under NCCS, Mr. Anwar Kamal from NIMIS and Dr. Hiranao Takahashi, an InfoSec Scientist from Japan.

Chief Guest of the Conference was DIG East Karachi, Mr. Amir Farooqui who stressed the need of latest tools and labs to tackle latest cybercrimes. Mr. Ammar Jaffri, President PISA described the landmark work by Cyber Security Task Force, constituted by Senate Committee for Defense and Defense Production in 2013-14. The Proposed Cyber Security Bill is still pended on the floor of Senate of Pakistan. Mr. Jaffri stressed the need pass those Bill to implement 1st National Cyber Security Policy and to establish 1st Computer/Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT). In the end Mr. Abbas Ansari, Project Lead thanked all respectable guests, speakers, panelists, partners and participants of CSP19 Karachi Episode and congratulated them for such a successful Episode.

Based upon Conference theme a dialogue has been initiated on this learned forum of industry experts to realize the urgent need of national cyber security legislation. This is 7th Edition of this Project and has been conducted successfully in Islamabad and Karachi, and further episodes of the Edition will be conducted in Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar during August and September.
