The PALS Rescue story...
PALS | Pakistan Life Saving, (a non-profit-public-service NGO) was formed because of the high drowning rates along Karachi's beaches. Its was reported back in 2003, that more than 250 people drowned in Karachi’s beaches each year. Something had to be done, and PALS was born in July 2004. Since then, PALS Rescue has provided trained lifeguards along the public beaches of Karachi as a free public service and has saved over 4,500 lives.
PALS has trained and hired lifeguards from the poor & impoverished villages along the coastline of Karachi, thereby giving them certificated life saving skills, a sense of responsibility, employment, and a sense of respect among their villages and the tourists that visit the beaches.
Over 5 million people visit the Karachi’s beaches each year. The PALS Rescue team helps protect all these visitors as a free public service. With over 4,500 rescues, millions of preventive actions & first aids, general help & guidance, PALS Rescue plays its part in ensuring that one is secure when visiting the beaches of Karachi.
