Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) Essentials:

LOTO is the controlled way to ensure equipment remains completely de-energized during maintenance and servicing.

The Steps:
Isolate Power Source: Shut down and isolate the energy source (e.g., main MCCB, MCB, disconnect switch, valve, pneumatic line).
Lockout: Physically lock the isolating device in the 'off' or 'closed' position so no one can accidentally restore power.

Tagout: Attach a tag clearly identifying:
Name of the authorized person
Date and Time of placement
Purpose of the Lockout
Contact Number

The Rule:
ONLY the person who placed the lock is authorized to remove it.

Why it Matters:
LOTO prevents accidental energizing (or release of stored energy) and is the safest way to protect everyone working on the system.
