Bannu: 9 soldiers of Pakistan Army were martyred in a su***de attack on an army convoy.
ISPR says five soldiers were also injured when motorcycle-borne su***de bomber exploded himself in Jani Khel area
At least nine soldiers of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom on Thursday when a motorcycle-borne su***de bomber exploded himself on a military convoy in general area Jani Khel in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, the military said.
Military’s media arm, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said five soldiers were also injured during the explosion, adding that Naib Subedar Sanobar Ali was also among the martyrs.
It stated that the area has been cordoned off by security forces and sanitisation is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.
“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” it further said.
Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, while expressing his condolences, said that he was heartbroken by the loss of valiant soldiers in Bannu.
In a post on his X handle, he said, “Heartbroken by the loss of 9 valiant soldiers in Bannu Division, KPK, to a cowardly terrorist act that injured many. Such acts are utterly reprehensible. My thoughts are with the families of the martyred and injured. Pakistan stands resolute against such terror.”
On August 22, at least six soldiers were martyred in a skirmish with terrorists in the Asman Manza area of South Waziristan district, according to ISPR.
The military's media wing added that at least four terrorists were also killed while two were injured in the fighting.

Pakistani pacers star from the first ball of the inning as Pakistan wins the first ODI against Afghanistan by 142 runs in Hambantota, Sri Lanka, on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of 202 runs, the Afghan's batting lineup dismissed for only 59 runs in 19.2 overs.
Haris Rauf in Pakistan colors claimed 5-18 in 6.2 overs, his first ever five wicket-haul, and Shaheen claimed two wickets in two balls in his second over to set the tone for Pakistan during Afghanistan's batting.
Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan bagged one wicket each. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the top run-scorer for Afghanistan with 18 runs.
Earlier, Imam-ul-Haq sold 61 runs with Shadab Khan's 39 and Iftikhar Ahmed's 30 managed green shirts to put 201 in 47.1 overs on the scoreboard. Afghanistan bowlers rattled Pakistan's top order on a terrific spinning track.
