Avalanche Claims Nine Lives in Lower Chitral
Lower Chitral:
A tragic incident occurred on Friday in the Serigal, Damil, Arandu area of Lower Chitral, where an avalanche triggered by heavy snowfall struck a residential house, burying ten members of the same family.
According to local sources, the avalanche hit the house of Bacha, son of Gul Muhammad, a resident of Bala. Local residents immediately launched rescue efforts and recovered nine bodies from the debris, while one child was rescued alive.
Rescue operations were ongoing till the filing of this report.
Officials said the area is facing severe hardships due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold weather, which has also hampered rescue and relief activities.
