During an Interview...

HR: "What's your salary expectation?"

Candidate: "PKR 180,000 per month."

HR: "You're the best fit for the role, but I'm afraid that's beyond our budget."

Candidate: "I really need this job. I can accept PKR 150,000."

HR: "Great. Let's finalize it at PKR 130,000."

Candidate (hesitantly): "Alright... I accept."

Interview ends.

Later that day...

HR to Senior Management:
"Good news! I've hired the perfect candidate. The approved budget for this position was PKR 220,000 per month, but I closed the offer at PKR 130,000. We saved PKR 90,000 every month."

Senior Manager: "Excellent work! Well done."

Everyone celebrates the "cost saving."

But a few weeks later, the new employee discovers they're being paid significantly less than others doing similar work.

The result?

- Job dissatisfaction.
- Loss of trust.
- Low motivation.
- Reduced productivity.

Within a couple of months, the employee resigns after receiving a better offer.

Now the company has to restart the entire hiring process—spending more time, money, and effort while the team's performance suffers.

The lesson?

Hiring isn't just about filling a vacancy at the lowest possible cost. It's about valuing people fairly.

Pay talented employees what they're worth, and they're far more likely to stay, perform, and help your organization grow.

Do you agree? 🙂
