CECOS Mechanical Engineering Department

Final Year Mechanical Engineering students from CECOS University Peshawar, accompanied by the Head of Department and faculty, embarked on an insightful visit to the Sheikh Muhammadi Grid Station. This practical learning experience allowed them to witness firsthand the mechanical engineering principles at play in a crucial power distribution facility.
Students explored the station's layout and gained a deeper understanding of the mechanical construction and operational mechanisms of key equipment. This included examining transformers, where cooling systems and winding arrangements were discussed, and circuit breakers, with a focus on their rapid interruption capabilities. The visit also highlighted the simple yet vital mechanical operation of isolators and earth switches for safety during maintenance.
Faculty members played a crucial role in helping students bridge the gap between their theoretical knowledge and the real-world applications observed at the grid station, making this an invaluable learning opportunity.
