2023 Toyota Crown specs: Clam Royal Crown.
After many years of not being available in North America, the Toyota Crown nameplate is back. It’s here to replace the discontinued Avalon, but it’s not a typical sedan. The 2023 Toyota Crown is a mix of a car and an SUV, aiming to appeal to people who may not be interested in large sedans that are becoming less popular. The Crown has a higher driving position and a three-box style, similar to older raised sedans like the Subaru Legacy SUS and the Volvo S60 Cross Country, which are no longer produced.

Though there were rumors about a plug-in hybrid and an EV version, the 2023 Crown is launched with two conventional hybrid options. The base model has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine combined with three electric motors and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The more expensive Platinum model has a unique Hybrid Max powertrain, featuring a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor on the rear axle, resulting in a powerful 340 horsepower.

Apart from its unique appearance, the Crown also offers a spacious cabin with luxurious features. Toyota equips all Crown models with a generous amount of standard driver-assistance systems and infotainment technology.
